Our members
- The Forum has over 40 members organisations from both the private and public sector.
- Members are based predominantly in the North West with Greater Manchester as the highest cluster of members, but there are members from across the UK including the Midlands, Wales and London.
- Numbers of employees in member SSCs varies from less than 50 to in excess of 1000.
- Predominantly members run Finance and/or HR SSCs.
- Member organisations predominantly service the business needs of their internal organisations that employ from 2,000 to 180,000 people.
- Sectors serviced include amongst many: utilities; chemicals; food; pharmaceuticals; FMCG; energy; outsourcing; financial services; logistics and distribution; financial services; IT services; catering and support, brand management and the NHS.
- When surveyed found the meetings, conference and website – especially the ‘Ask a Question’ tool useful to their business.
- Regularly attend our events and contribute to the on-going development of the Forum in some way – i.e. sharing information, networking or hosting an event.
- Have an opportunity to share their news and experiences with other members.
- Are able to suggest and set up special interest groups should they meet a specific need for members – there are three such groups currently working very successfully.
- Are able to share their feedback and drive the agenda of Forum meetings.
- Share a passion for best practice and benchmarking.
- Are interested in new developments relating to processes, systems and talent management.
The Forum
- Has existed in its current form since 2005.
- Runs in partnership with MIDAS, Manchester’s Inward Investment Agency.
- Has a Steering Group that manages its governance and on-going membership services.
- Provides a range of member benefits including: an Annual Conference; Leaders’ Forum Meetings; Network Meetings; on and offline knowledge-sharing opportunities and regular e-mail communication.
- Facilitates three dynamic networks – People Management Network; Purchase to Pay Network and the Helpdesk Network.
- Promotes and encourages the sharing of best practice through surveys, presentations and soliciting opinion.
- Works with the North West Regional Development Agency, trade associations and groups as well as business organisations such as the Confederation of British Industry to drive the shared services agenda forward in the region.
- enables members to share best practice, network and drive the sector forward through meetings, events, an annual conference and online activity
- Assists organisations regardless of their level of maturity.
- Optimises PR and promotional opportunities for members including exhibition attendance.
- Is run for the members by the members and serviced and supported by a Project Manager (Tracy Bosanko of Black+White Communications); an Adminstrator and web team (The eSAY Group) and an external consultant – Chris Price of Alsbridge plc.
